GSpace Manual

Welcome to GSpace

GSpace is a stereo enhancing effect making use of mid/side processing and the Haas Effect to create extra stereo width.

The main functions are in place, but the EQ section is a work in progress.

Interface

GSpace user interface

The user interface has two tabs, "Main" and "EQ", but the latter is not fully functional. Here we'll just go through the main parameters.

Gain: This just allows adjustment of the overall gain level of the input signal.

Mid Gain: This allows the "mid" portion of the signal to be boosted or cut independently.

Side Gain: This allows the "side" portion of the signal to be boosted or cut independently. (Note that a mono input will have no "side" component).

Phase Widen: This enables manipulation of the L/R phase to create a stereo effect. If the stereo signal might later be reduced to mono then this kind of processing can create problems when the left and right are summed together. Most VST hosts will allow you to listen to a mono audition of the master mix so you can check for any issues.

Delay, Feedback: These settings are used to add a very small delay to the audio to mimic sound arriving at each ear at slightly different times.

Dry, Wet: These gain parameters allow the dry and wet signals to be mixed appropriately.

Hints and ideas

  • The effect is most apparent listening through headphones.
  • Apply it to a single, mono source and experiment with the settings.
